Two Straight Victories for Grabko as he Prepares for the European Phase of the Season
Deven Grabko makes it two straight South Sweden Kart Champions Cup (SKCC) victories going into the 4th round of the ultra competitive championship this weekend in Kalmar, Sweden.
The young Swedish American talent has been on a tear of late, winning the last two rounds of Sweden’s largest and most prestigious karting championship in dominant style, taking pole position, winning all his qualifying heats and super heats, and the feature final races, putting down a marker for the rest of the field to chase after in both wet, dry and mixed conditions. He now leads the net driver’s championship in the Junior Open 125cc category at the halfway point of the series.
Alex Dahlberg, AD Motorsport team boss, and staunch believer in Deven’s future prospects, is not surprised by these results, ”We’ve known since mini karting that Deven was going to come good, and put together a long-term program for him. His development has been much faster than we anticipated, and his huge talent and growing maturity are really showing through. He has put in the work and done everything right, and these are his just rewards. Long may it continue for him.”
Deven’s sporting manager, Giovanni Minardi, head of Minardi Management, was equally confident, ”We knew from the moment we saw Deven that he was an up and coming talent. These results were not a matter of if, but of when, and he has proven that in the start to this season. We are sure he will continue to perform at this high level, and more great results will come.”
Up next for the young rising star are races at the biggest international championships Europe has to offer, breeding grounds for motorsports’ future super stars, with rounds of both the Champions of the Future Euro Series and FIA Karting European Championship both coming to the Åsum Ring International Karting Circuit in Kristianstad, Sweden in July.
This will be followed up by the Swedish National Championship in Borås, Sweden, the first week in August.
Is Deven intimidated by all of this?
No, is the answer. He says it is all in a days work, ”I mean, I know I have the speed and the pace, and I just go out there and give it my all every time I get in the kart, whether it is testing sessions, free practice, or a big Final, I just try to stay calm and focused, no matter what happens on track. I’m just thankful to be out there, and try to make the most of every moment I get! You can’t think too much about the future, it can get in your head. I try to stay focused on what I am doing right now.”
But first, Grabko is already back in action this weekend in Kalmar, Sweden at the Skogstorp International Karting Circuit for the 4th round of the South Sweden Kart Champions Cup on June 29th and 30th. Follow him to see if he can keep his podium streak alive.
